More of My Feelings

I try to maintain an objective tone in this blog. This is not going to be one of those posts. I am horrified by the events in our nation. Some of these events originate from Conservatives, but most of them do not. Here are just some of what is being perpetrated or condoned by Liberals.

With the death of RBG there have been multiple twitter posts threatening riots if Republicans confirm a justice before the election. Twitter has not taken the posts down, even as it censors the President's tweets. This is simply the escalation of street violence that has occurred in multiple major cities.

This street violence has all happened in Democratically controlled cities. Repeatedly, Democratic mayors have limited police response or expressed sympathy with rioters. I have lived through rioting. A riot is not a peaceful assembly, and first amendment rights to that are not being violated by sending everyone home when violence occurs. In most street violence there are many peaceful bystanders. That fact cannot prevent the necessary steps to restore order, for the sake of those peacefully trying to express themselves as much as for all of society. The necessary steps are curfews and arrests of anyone not clearing a designated area. Only in Lancaster, PA did a Democratic mayor summon the force and courage to take these steps. Predictably, the riots ended immediately.

Various spokesmen and authors have said that looting is acceptable as a form of societal reparations. Those who disagree are shouted down as racists. The willingness to publish and air these ideas and the lack of governmental response in effect normalizes violence and theft as public behaviors.

Liberals have assaulted attendees at Trump rallies. Liberal groups tried to prevent access to Trump's first inaugural, breaking windows and getting in fights. Liberals threaten social violence if they do not get their way. Liberals have harassed Conservatives at dinner and in their homes. No Conservative is doing this, has ever done this.

Liberals shrug off these acts, saying they are done by fringe groups. They make comparisons to the KKK and other white supremacist groups. This is an utterly specious comparison. White supremacist groups count perhaps 5000 members in the entire US. These groups do not organize street violence, do not attack public buildings, do not set fires. No Republican bails KKK members out of jail, and the claim Trump said there were 'good people on both sides' is totally false. For those insisting he supported white supremacists, here is entire transcript. Here are Trump's comments in a broader context. He has never supported white supremacists, nor has he, as Democrats have done, condoned or supported street violence.

On campuses, multiple 'professors' during class wish Trump supporters would die, prevent the wearing of Trump hats or shirts, and give instructions that limit points of view to support of liberal ideas and causes.

If Liberals do not get a SCOTUS justice they like they threaten to pack the court. This is just one way of indirectly saying 'we will change the structure of government until we get the result we want.' It is no longer enough to vote, since voters cannot be trusted. Democrats apparently already believe this, since every vote fraud case has been perpetrated by a Democrat. See my prior blog on this for multiple, proven examples, as well as the embarrassing cases in Philadelphia and New Jersey of vote alteration and ballot harvesting.

I do not believe these actions are a 'conspiracy' (a word in modern politics I dislike and that is overused); rather, they reflect a liberal belief that they are not simply right but righteous. This belief has gone beyond merely insufferable smugness at parties to a belief that violence is an acceptable way to express opinion and feeling, as well as a belief that governmental structural change is justified to get what they want. Such a belief is not compatible with a democracy or with safe and peaceful governance.

Liberals call anyone who opposes them racists and fascists, but in fact it is liberals who are engaged in the very tactics characteristic of totalitarian regimes- street violence, suppression of opposing points of view, singling out and attacking opponents. I see no conceptual difference between the harassing of Conservatives in their homes and at dinner and the smashing of Jewish stores by brown shirts. The belief it is acceptable to assault Trump supporters simply for their political affiliation is no different than the assaults on Jews for being Jewish.

The choice in the upcoming election is not about the candidates. Both are terrible, and there is no need to recite their weaknesses and faults, because the issues at stake go far beyond them as individuals. Our choice is between supporting order and individual freedoms, or condoning violence both societal and interpersonal. The Democratic Party has not simply moved beyond what is reasonable, it has moved beyond what is safe, just, and free. I do not understand how any reasonable, informed person can vote to support the actions and policies of the Democratic Party.

What is Forgiveness

In doing years of medical teaching, I have told students that teaching and learning are not directly related. I can teach and teach, but you may never learn. Conversely, you may learn continuously without me teaching you a thing. 'I teach' and 'you learn' are two separate, active processes that may overlap or coincide. The same is true of forgiveness. I am an unforgiving man. I am the very opposite of God, who is slow to anger and of great kindness. I am quick to anger and very slow to forgive. I'm kind and insightful with people generally, but when mistreated or insulted I am not kind at all, nor do I forget, or forgive.  The Bible tells us to do something else. We are told to forgive. In Matthew 18:21, Peter asks Jesus how often he should forgive his brother's sin. The Jewish standard was three times. Like the young man in the story of the Samaritan, who asks who his brother is in order to know to whom he should be loving, Peter appears to be asking for guida...

My Broken Tooth

I broke a tooth today. I've done that before; I inherited my mother's horrible teeth, and if not for crowns I would have the smile of any drug-addicted homeless man in the street. But the tooth broke, rather than the crown coming off. I've had that happen a couple of times, and it's nothing. After all, the tooth is just fake, held on by cements similar to the ones I use for my models. This time, however, I have to have the root extracted so I can get the modern version of a bridge. And this new dental experience has reduced to me to jelly, this not helped by the condescending, sexist comments of the dental assistant. I have a long, longe memory, my first recollections coming from age 2. I have well-developed, detailed memories from age 3 onward. I vividly recall being at the dentiswt as a child, when it was fashionable to fill baby teeth. I can recall being left there by my mother as a 14 year old, on the day I was paid for working as 'the 5th ace' at Camp Maga...

Politically Correct Dishonor

The Biblical prophets warned aloud that devastation would come to those who were unclean. Those that profaned God and the house of God, those who were drunken, fornicators, idolators, those that cheated, that gave unclean offerings. Israel was warned of the consequences of their behavior. And God did not punish Israel. Rather, by walking away from God, Israel simply suffered the consequences of its behavior and choices. I chose, I chose , to live, to receive a transplant. I struggled to have the surgery that prolonged my life, I accepted the gift of a kidney from a whole person that I might live. I was convinced by family and friends that I had some role in the world, something I might contribute. And I believed that. My idea of contribution was to teach, to give to others what I had learned to do. But I have lived to see injustice. To see self-interest and greed triumph over not merely right but reason as well. I see incompetence passed off as expertise, the mundane as the s...
