Rhett Bulter, Trans Athletes, and Our World

This post is prompted by a variety of experiences over the last month. Largely, however, it is prompted by Megan Rapinoe and Sue Bird, two great female athletes and their comments about trans women competing in women's sports. They see this as right and good, that all should be allowed to compete. I suppose they imagine that lesbian athletes, which they both are, will next be targeted.

And I realized today that I don't give a damn.

Over the years in practice I rarely had reason to confront a patient about their attitude. One such was a 17 year old pregnant Black girl who needed to be on Lovenox, an injectable anti-coagulant, and to stop smoking. She was non-compliant, resulting in her baby's growth slowing dramatically. I asked her if she was taking her medication, and she replied sulkily "I don't see why I have to". I explained (again) why, and she was again sulky and defiant, saying "It burns and I don't see any difference."

I replied "you're right. You DON'T have to take it. If you don't, your baby is going to become growth restricted. That will mean twice weekly testing with a lot of fancy ultrasound that makes me a hell of a lot of money. So by all means, don't take your meds. I don't care, but you should." (PS- she didn't take them)

I was right then, and I'm right now. I had nothing personally at stake in that girl's pregnancy, and I have absolutely nothing personally at stake whether men pretending to be women compete against female athletes. If real men claimed they had a right to play against women there would be a Title IX uproar and an instant refusal. But by pretending to be women, by FEELING like women, they are going to damage women's sports far more efficiently than anything else could have. What girl will want to compete knowing she is likely to lose to a boy? That was the whole point of Title IX, to encourage women's sports and create a path for athleticism in women without competing against the marked physical advantages of men.

And now women want to include these men! Amazing! Fantastic! Unbelievable! Women seem determined to participate in their own denigration and objectification. It isn't enough that lesbianism permeates women's sports to the point that straight college women are hazed and ostracized. No.....In the name of equality biological women get to be second-class athletes instead of second-class citizens.

And I don't give a damn. Why should I put up a fuss if these mentally ill men want to play sports as women, or pee in women's bathrooms if women themselves don't care? None of this affects me.

The entire trans insanity is one facet of the social values of the current generations. Feelings are more important than facts, or biology, or intent, or outcome. "I'm offended", "I feel unsafe", "I wasn't treated fairly"- all these subjective complaints lead to investigations, firings, arrests, suits, even criminal complaints. All over feelings. Every educational institution and many companies have an 'officer' (funny choice of term for an administrator) responsible for handling these complaints.

We live in a new Victorian era, where the slightest misstep can lead to disaster. But only if you're a straight man. And it doesn't have to be real or even biological. If you FEEL hurt it's an offense. Any woman, any homosexual, any trans crazy can get rid of any white man just by claiming to be offended.

And in that vein the trans feel excluded and offended if they don't get to compete against real women. Oh, excuse me, birthing parents, cis women, women with uteruses. I'm an ObGyn, and here's a hint- ALL women have uteruses, absent anomalies. ALL have the potential to be mothers, and the biological changes of estrogen. Trans 'women' lack both. They are not women. They don't belong competing against women, since their bodies, their skeletons, their muscle mass, their height and speed, are all different, and greater.

But by all means, let's pursue agendas not bound by fact or reality. The results are already horrible, but no one cares. 67% of male supervisors will not talk to a female employee without a witness for fear of accusation, parents ask college women's sports programs how lesbian their culture is, but somehow women are comfortable that a 'woman with a penis' should shower next to them, or line up in a race or swim, or wrestle, against them.

This is hardly a surpise. We should not expect consistency in emotional responses. Somehow a man is a threat if he even cracks a joke, but it's now normal for a man with fake breasts and taking hormones to use the same lockers and bathroom as a woman.

You will regret this horribly. Like the idiot BLM protesters, who castigated the police but called frantically for them when counter-protesters arrived, women will want a man for protection, or strength, both physical, moral, and emotional, and none will be there. 

You can stew in your own juice. I don't give a damn.

What is Forgiveness

 In doing years of medical teaching, I have told students that teaching and learning are not directly related. I can teach and teach, but you may never learn. Conversely, you may learn continuously without me teaching you a thing. 'I teach' and 'you learn' are two separate, active processes that may overlap or coincide. The same is true of forgiveness. My Broken Tooth

 I broke a tooth today. I've done that before; I inherited my mother's horrible teeth, and if not for crowns I would have the smile of any drug-addicted homeless man in the street. But the tooth broke, rather than the crown coming off. I've had that happen a couple of times, and it's nothing. After all, the tooth is just fake, held on by cements similar to the ones I use for my models. This time, however, I have to have the root extracted so I can get the modern version of a bridge. And this new dental experience has reduced to me to jelly, this not helped by the condescending, sexist comments of the dental assistant. I have a long, longe memory, my first recollections coming from age 2. I have well-developed, detailed memories from age 3 onward. I vividly recall being at the dentiswt as a child, when it was fashionable to fill baby teeth. Politically Correct Dishonor

The Biblical prophets warned aloud that devastation would come to those who were unclean. Those that profaned God and the house of God, those who were drunken, fornicators, idolators, those that cheated, that gave unclean offerings. Israel was warned of the consequences of their behavior.
