Hi all-
I got a nice email about educational resources. The person noted that a limited ability to comprehend philosophy or advanced math in no way means that someone can not make a societal contribution.
That is so true. There is a tendency to denigrate community colleges, and even more so technical schools. Tech school grads have higher starting salaries than 4 year college grads. Salary is of course not a pure way of measuring contribution to society.
There is every reason to to put more special ed money towards the gifted, and admitting there is a cadre of students who will never graduate from high school. This in no way says these individuals can not be productive in society, and for themselves.
More thoughts about being productive in society tomorrow.
